The Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) in conjunction with the Green Bonds Kenya Programme hosted a breakfast session for listed companies with the objective of driving the conversation forward on emerging opportunities that exist in issuing green bonds. The event was opened by NSE CEO, Mr. Geoffrey Odundo. During the forum, a panel discussion on the business case for green and sustainable projects took place. In the panel consisting of Safaricom Head of Finance, Mr. Vincent Opiyo; Kenya Pooled Water Fund Chief Executive Officer, Robert Bunyi; Kenya Green Building Society Treasurer, Madhur Ramrakha; and Africa Programme Manager of the Climate Bonds Initiative, Olumide Lala explored areas of opportunity and challenges present in green investments. The panel discussion was moderated by NSE Commercial Director Ms. Bahati Morara. Five institutions in attendance expressed interest in issuing green bonds between this year and 2019.
